What is PERversion?

How was it born?

PER. Perra!! (Female dog, in Spanish: “perra”.) It was inspired by a strange night went by three girls who studied different kinds of arts (design, illustration, video-art). They ended up inventing a noun to call themselves: Perras Verdes (Green Dogs). In another moment of higher mental stability they decided to create an art group, which did not become real because everyone took their own path in life.

VERSION. Particular point of view to refer to the same fact. Interpretation or change of an issue, work…

PERVERSION. Action of perverting. Lead away from what is right, natural or morally acceptable. Depravity, corruption, wickedness, vice. But who says what is morally acceptable, what is bad or what is vicious? Everything has a point of view, and that one belongs to the owner.
PERversion. A perversion of reality? Or a version of a perverted reality? Now it is your turn to choose where “perra” (dog, kind of bitch or swine, but also a nice dog eh? ;-)) goes.


What is it?

Another version, as perverse as the participant wants, of a reality that might seem like sinister at once that endearing.

Humour and irony. They come joined with the absence of qualm and shame. PERversion likes to create confusion, and it is contradictory sometimes, its definition is opened to be changed, to be increased or reduced.
A window where to exhibit. It is an excuse for not stopping to make and create. A meeting place with no location or a concept entirely defined (defining it would break its anarchy and strange sense of justice).
Disciplines. Any chosen by the participant (painting, poetry, illustration, reportage, stories, photography, performance, music, video… or anything else that has not word to be assigned)
Free Subject. No subject, paranoia, politics, nature, sex, love, music, ant copulation, health, psychotropics, fashion, gastronomy…


Who? Everybody. ¿For who? For everybody.

Public=Maker. Young? Maverick? With eager to change? Yes… It fits, but would you be anything more (or less) perverse there than just the opposite? It’s nice, easy and cheap, thus everybody can make and take possession of it.


What have we got?

We have got a fanzine, a blog and several projects.

FANZINE. PERversion, the funzine. If to call it “fun”zine can make it being different to another fanzines, would be in the sense of make something that is fun for us, although could be not fun for others (and vice versa).

How is it? A5; photocopied (black and white); if chaos has order, then chaotic, and if order has some chaos, then organized.
When? It comes to light whenever it feels like or has strength to do it. It will be always a wonderful surprise!
Location. Mainly in Madrid. Also published in Zaragoza and Barcelona. Likewise, we have contributors in England, Holland and Germany.

BLOG. perversionthefunzine.blogspot.com Everything in black and white shown in the funzine, will be there in colour. Also, this is where projects and proposals are cooked, and where different events are announced. Here public and collaborators are in contact constantly.


What do we want?

Funzine. We want it to come out every so often (more often than not), at least 3 times a year, even thought if not regularly.

Magazine. Yearly, coloured and with a quality printout. It will show the highlights of the year. The funzine would be kind of a sketchbook for this one. This will never be free.

Events. Collaborators of the funzine will be the main characters: exhibitions, concerts, performances…
